Heretic Knives represents a seamless blend of innovation, quality, and a deep-rooted passion for exceptional craftsmanship. Founded by Anthony Marfione Jr., the brand carries forward a legacy built by his father, Anthony Marfione Sr., the founder of Microtech Knives. While Heretic has developed its own unique identity, its foundations remain intertwined with the Marfione family’s relentless drive to push the boundaries of knife design and performance.

Anthony Jr.'s Path From Microtech to Heretic Knives

Anthony Jr.'s journey into the knife-making world began at a young age. Growing up surrounded by the hum of grinders and the glint of steel, he and his brother Sean were naturally drawn to the craft. As children, they mimicked their father’s work, turning bicycles into imaginary grinding wheels and fashioning wooden “knives.” These early experiences fostered a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship and a determination to carry on the family tradition.

When Anthony Jr. officially joined Microtech, he immersed himself in every aspect of the business. From assembling lanyards to packaging products, he gained firsthand knowledge of the precision and dedication required in knife-making. This foundation equipped him with the skills and perspective necessary to navigate the competitive industry.

In 2015, Anthony Jr. took a leap of faith and founded Heretic Knives. Establishing a new brand in a market dominated by giants was no small task, but his vision was clear: to create knives that combined cutting-edge technology with distinctive, personal craftsmanship. Drawing from his Microtech experience and his own creative drive, Anthony Jr. built Heretic Knives into a brand known for its bold designs and uncompromising quality.

Heretic Knives: Innovation Rooted In Legacy

Heretic quickly made a name for itself with a focus on automatics and out-the-front (OTF) knives, directly competing with some of the most respected names in the industry, including Microtech. Rather than rivalry, this dynamic was driven by mutual respect and shared innovation. Heretic’s dedication to producing high-performance knives with unique aesthetic appeal has helped the brand carve its own space in the market.

A key differentiator for Heretic is its commitment to U.S.-based production. Every component is either made in-house or sourced domestically, ensuring unparalleled quality and supporting local industry. This approach allows Heretic to deliver knives that meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Hands-on mentorship and a focus on precision are central to the company’s operations, ensuring that every knife reflects the brand’s dedication to excellence.

Heretic Knives is not just a business; it’s a continuation of a storied legacy. The Marfione family’s influence is evident in every design, from the meticulous craftsmanship to the bold innovation that defines the brand. Anthony Jr. has taken the lessons learned from his father and used them to forge a path uniquely his own, while still honoring the traditions that shaped him.
