Hogue Inc.’s story begins with LAPD officer Guy Hogue, who crafted a custom grip for his service revolver to improve comfort and control. This simple modification quickly caught the attention of fellow officers, and Hogue soon found himself making grips for others in the department. By 1968, demand had grown so significantly that Hogue Inc. was officially launched.

Hogue: From Firearm Grips to Precision Knives

From the start, Hogue’s success lay in its commitment to quality and ergonomics. Initially made from wood, Hogue grips offered a superior feel and fit compared to factory options. This focus on user experience expanded to rifle stocks, gaining popularity with competitive shooters and hunters alike.

For nearly four decades, Hogue Inc. thrived as a firearms accessory maker, until a significant shift in 2010 marked the company’s foray into knives. This move opened a new chapter, expanding Hogue’s reputation for craftsmanship beyond firearms. The EX-01 folder, a collaboration with renowned knifemaker Allen Elishewitz, became Hogue’s first knife. This tactical folder set the tone for what Hogue knives would become, a blend of functionality, durability, and innovative design.

Hogue knives have since carved a distinct niche in the market, known for their rugged construction and suitability for heavy-duty use. With a product lineup that includes tactical folders, automatics, and OTF (Out-The-Front) knives, Hogue serves the needs of law enforcement, security professionals, and everyday users alike. A notable example is the Hogue Deka, a popular manual folder celebrated for its practicality and durability.
